Question: Is LAF a government agency?
Answer: No. LAF is a not for profit corporation governed by a 39 member local Board of Directors.

Question: Does everyone have a “right” to an attorney at LAF?
Answer: No. Everyone is not entitled to representation. Before a case is accepted the case must be determined to have legal merit and meet LAF priorities. Thousands of people each year are only given advice, or referred to another agency, or informed that their legal problem does not fall within LAF priorities.

Question: Is there a fee for obtaining legal services from LAF?
Answer: No.

Question:  What kind of eligibility information will I be asked if I apply for services?
Answer: You will be asked about your income, the property you own, your zip code, your assets, family size, age, race, and citizenship or immigration status.

Question:  Will my information be kept confidential?
Answer: Yes, all information you give us is confidential and will not be given to anyone without your permission.

Question: Does LAF have interpreters for non-English speaking clients?
Answer: Yes.
